We would like to wish Patricia Zamorano a happy birthday! Her poem “You Can’t Break a Bitch” was featured on WE ALL BLEED THE SAME earlier this year. Patricia, we hope your day is filled with joy!

You Can’t Break a Bitch

You can’t break a bitch

That’s already been down

On her knees

One too many times

Eye swollen

Lip busted

By the vato

Who swore

Loved her to death

He almost sent her there

Haina would pick herself up

By the bootstraps

But finally had enough of it

And shanked him

Deadly

Did 5 years

In the pen

Resting

Got out to

Find

She was being hunted

By his familia

So she

Transformed herself

Into a chameleon

Subterfuge of the

Protective kind

Melding in with the people

Like a butterfly

Did she get away

You can’t break a bitch

That’s already been down…
